Why I Created Like Kells Said

Like Kells Said is a one-woman show brought to you by charismatic performer and writer Caz Mason. Inspired by true events and lived experience, this is a raw, funny, and fearless look at survival, grief, and the chaotic beauty of life in Leith. Caz brings her unique comic outlook to the stage, creating a beautifully portrayed Kelly—sharp, vulnerable, and unforgettable.

This story had to be told. I’ve lived through some of these moments, and I’ve seen first-hand how humour can carry us through the darkest times. That’s why Like Kells Said isn’t just a thriller—it’s a human story, laced with wit, heart and brutal honesty. It’s about the women who get back up. The women who laugh in the face of disaster. The women you don’t often see on stage—but should.

Summary

Like Kells Said is a darkly comic, fast-paced one-woman thriller set in Leith, Edinburgh. After the tragic death of her childhood sweetheart in a house fire, Kelly rebuilds her life with a new partner—only to be pulled into a dangerous drug deal full of secrets, betrayal and violence. When two murders rock her world, she’s forced to confront the brutal reality beneath the surface of her community.

Told with biting humour and emotional depth, Caz Mason delivers a powerhouse performance that takes audiences on a gripping ride through love, loss, and life on the edge. Like Kells Said is gritty, gripping and unexpectedly funny—a true story told by someone who’s lived it.
