 This is a new course aimed at 8-16 Year olds who are interested in Stand-up comedy, and want to take the first steps into performing or give stand-up comedy a try, as we are getting more and more enquiries for younger people to attend our adult courses.

 It follows the format of our adult 2 day beginners course, but is aimed at younger people who want to try stand-up comedy, in a child friendly environment, with all our tutors and assistants DBS checked, and two adults present during the course at all times.

Can anybody Learn Stand-up Comedy? The simple answer is yes

Stand-up Comedy can teach you to be self-confident and better at communication. Youngsters are extremely creative and are very imaginative. To put these traits together can be one of the most worthwhile building blocks for any young adult.

Comedy for youngsters is taught through proven techniques and exercises that professional comedians use daily. Anyone can learn them.

Stand-up comedians are nothing but grown up kids

Laughing Horse have been teaching comedy courses for over 11 years that guides you through a proven process that professional comics use to write, perform and approach Stand-Up Comedy.

This course is not taught by theorists, lecturers or people that have never set foot on a stage.  It is delivered by professional comedians, all of whom have been performing comedy shows for kids as well as adults!

They have huge experience in teaching this art form and giving valuable feedback, problem-solving and encouraging students to develop their routine

This beginners’ course for children is suited for anyone who has never performed stand-up comedy before, or for people who want to understand and learn about comedy and to overcome anxiety issues. In a highly addictive and fun way

The course is aimed at 8-16 year olds, for 16+ year olds, there is the option to do this course or attend one of the adult courses.

What the course covers

• Where material comes from and how to make routines of your own continuously.

• How to write material

• Practical writing exercises

•  Learning how professional comics deconstruct comedy by watching and discussing current comedians

• Editing and performing material written

• Microphone and performance Technique

This is all learnt through play and fun exercises and discussions

At the end of the course the students will be able to perform in a showcase where they perform up to 5 minutes of material to a live audience of friends and relatives. So, they can show off!
